New 2006 Mustang GT... Or So I Thought!
Hello, about 8 months ago I purchase a new mustang. It had about 70 miles on the car when I got it and I was told it was brand new etc.

Here I am now 8 months later and I started noticing issues with the paint on the left quarter panel. Turns out the whole quarter panel has been painted and it isn't even the same color.
The clear coat is now peeling, there are Telegraphing lines, dirt all in the paint, water/gas lines underneath the clear coat where the gas door is...you can actually see paint flaking off there...its horrible. There's even an over spray line on the rear bumper!

And to top it off the front bumper and rear bumper have mottling...you can see how there isn't enought paint on them and something is showing thru...probably primer.

What can I do...the dealer is claiming ignorance and saying it must have happened at the factory. I have signed and notarized letter from them stating they didn't do the work etc...

I have been trying to get an appointment with a Ford Warranty Rep but scheduling issues have arisen.

I NEED HELP! STRESS is taking over!

Contact the Ford "Zone Manager" that has the area where you bought the car and file a complaint with him/her. If the vehicle was damaged in transport they are required to disclose that before the purchase papers are signed. Any Ford dealershiip in your area will give you the contact information.

    Sorry, tricky thing is this.

I bought the car is Texas, and just recently moved to VA.

I have been instructed to go get body shop estimates...which I have an appointment this Fri...but I know full and well to fix this it will be about 2k...way above the 3 % rule.

Thanks for the info, I have never heard of a Zone Manager...I had a neutral dealer pull the transport record...there was none.

Every new car is delivered to the dealer from somewhere. Normally it is from the manufacture. Possibily, the car was delivered to another dealer before it was sold to you. Often, dealers swap cars as they have a need for a certain type vehicle. Ever hear a salesperson say, "If you don't see what you like on our lot - we can get it for you?"

Every new car dealer has a record of delivery which will list the date delivered, condition and what transport company made the delivery to the dealer. If you purchased this vehicle new, I believed it was damaged in transport or while sitting on their lot. Contact the Zone Manager, they are empowered to help you. Do not delay on this. Keep your appointment.

I just read where you purchased the car in Texas and now live in VA. Just go to a local Ford dealer and request to see the Zone Manager. It makes no difference where you now live.
