If my court hearing forms never arrive and the court tells me I'm not even listed into the system, what should i do? How long should I wait to actually believe that the charges have been dropped?
Until the statute of limitations expires.
Do you have any idea how long that is for a New Jersey charge for shoplifting? I tried looking it up, but was not able to find it. Thanks for all the advice, I greatly appreciate it.
Anywhere from 1 to 2 years
It has been weeks since my shoplifting incident and I still have not received anything in the mail, and the court continues to tell me I am not entered into the system. Would it be a good idea to call up the prescint to see where my case has been directed? Or would that complicate the situation and allow for my case to be filed, if it has not been already?
It can take quite some time in some cases.
So I should not call the prescint? Is there also a statute of limitation on civil demands?
Your a long ways from worrying about that
Also, since I was not arrested or given a summons, do you think the case may have been dropped? The officer mentioned something about not being able to arrest me because there were no tags on the clothing.
