Disorderly Conduct Charge
A friend of mine went to court today for a disorderly conduct charge ~ Basically he dumped his drink in his ex's lap...she called the cops. He was told that he will be either fined up to $1000 or spend up to 90 days in jail. To me, this seems a bit harsh. It is a tiny little town in AZ, that I am sure they need the money, could this be the reasoning or is this normal?
I am sorry, but you get a lesser fine or jail term with a dui!?!? This makes no sense to me!!
Re: Disorderly Conduct Charge
I have no idea who told him that or why. But, if it matters to you, the described fine is probably less than that associated with a DUI.
You seem to be describing the maximum possible penalty associated with the offense. The maximum possible penalty is usually significantly greater than the penalty a first time offender can expect to receive.

Thank you for your reply! I have heard such terrible things about the local judge over here!! He seems to be working on the "Good 'ol boy" system. Ugh! I think all judges should be fair, but for some reason this one gets away with anything!! Have a great day!
