Am I Allowed To Marry If I Have A Student Visa?
My german uncle supported me to get a student visa for German language in Germany valid for 2 years. but i have found a german boyfriend and we planned to get marry as soon as my papers will be completed before my visa expires on November 2007. My uncle said, that i am not allowed to get marry before November because i have a student visa and the Foreign Office in Germany will question me about it and that they will not give visa extentions for foreign students who are intending to get married. I wanted to know if it's a Law in Germany? and do i have the right to get marry before November even if i have a student visa? Please help me...

This is a U.S.-centered forum. Your best bet for determining the law in Germany is to find a German legal forum or to ask a German lawyer.

Yes you are allow to, Student or whatever visa you are on..as long as you are legal there..for you until Nov. 07. In case the administrative stuffs like proof of celibacy, bans publication (4 weeks)take too long (and it might) ...go to Danemark..all inter-nationality marriages I've know were celebrate:much easier , quicker and cheaper. It like Las Vegas there. And yes they are valid in Germany as well.

I used to live in Germany...non German citizen who married a German citizen while on student visa...

Why would an Austrian want to be German citizen and vice versa? They both belong to EU thus "citizen of same country" kind of!!! Their rights are practical the same in each country.

    BTW...my business

Immigration from the East? You mean Eastern Europe? Former Germans -German- Russians- are allow to receive nationality if the have proof of that their parents/grand parent were Germans. I explain:
Before/during WWII many Germans living in the eastern part of the country were send for different reasons to the Soviet Gulags, were they stay even after the war..they became Russian after their liberation. They couldn't go home for multiple reasons..communism, they would know where to go etc...After Germany reunification in 1989 the German Government pass a law stating that any Russian (or else, but most of them are Russians) that can prove that at least one of the parent/grand parent/great grand parent etc was German in some point of their life, can file to apply for German citizenship. After receiving it, there is NO difference if not the accent..except that they receive some help to adapt to the life the new country like free language course, some kind of welfare for few years... since most are not the wealthiness, at least according to the new country living standards. Nothing a "regular" working German would envy anyway. The other free stuffs are the same as what any low income "regular" German would receive...

Now :Former German have the same right as Former West Germans... IS like a person from OK has the same right as one from CA.

Other if immigrant are EU citizen, no question no problem, EU laws are above county laws. If they are not EU citizen, they will face the same difficulties about immigrating as an American or an Asian will.
