Long-Term Overstay
I have a friend- really a friend- not me- who came to this country on an F1 visa and has overstayed by about 10 years. He has been working for the same place since that time and got his initial job legally. About a year and a half ago he got married to a U.S. citizen. He hasn't had any criminal convictions, pays his taxes, etc. His passport however has expired.
Now they want to get his immigration status back on track. Not sure how to get started, what the pitfalls might be, what not to do or say, or if this is a case for an immigration lawyer.
Would appreciate any advice!

Re: Long-Term Overstay
He should be able to adjust his status on the basis of his marriage, although it wouldn't hurt for him to consult an immigration lawyer.
