Docket Trial
I'm new to the justice system, but I guess that's a good thing. Anyways, I was the victim of an incident and the case has already gone to the prosecutor. The defendent is being charged with misdemeanor assault. I called yesterday to see the status and was told that the next court date is set for next week. I was told it's a docket trial, which I have no idea what that means. What does it involve? Who attends? I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me understand this whole process. Thanks.

Re: Docket Trial
The court's docket is its calendar of trials, hearings, etc. If the next proceeding on the court's docket is the trial, then that's when the trial is scheduled. If the case does go to trial on that date, both the prosecutor and defense will need to produce their witnesses for trial.
