Thats what happened to me. And if you google my full name now, the theft charge that was written in the paper shows up on the first page. All over an item less than $15.

I just googled myself and nothing shows up; it's been a week. Hope that means they haven't published and won't.

How soon should I be expecting papers? As I said, it's been a week. I'm in King County, Washington State.

Hello,my second letter.I also had a civil demand. It was $90.00,I paid it so the pain in the ass Walmart wouldn't bug me anymore.I used a money order.I was arrested at Walmart in NY in 2003 over a pair of shoes. I also thought by signing the no tresspassing order and if I cooperated I would be ok.But the bastards called the cops anyway. The cops were fair to me,they even tried to talk Walmart out of pressing charges against me.Walmart pressed charges anyway. What happened was,my case was dismissed. And I have been back to Walmart many times to shop.If I get arrested for criminal trespassing,I'll deal with it if and when it happens. The way I see it,I tried to steal something,I got caught and paid the price.Stores should first just charge a fine and put it on record that so and so was caught shoplifting and was let off with a warning, and tell the person if they ever get caught shoplifting in the store again, the store will press charges and show the police that the store already gave this person a break once before. This would at least give the person something to think about without having an arrest record for petty larceny or retail theft. And you should be able to go back in the store and shop, forget the no trespassing order;just don't be a dick;walking in the store with a disguise (like some people suggest).Just go in like a normal person and but what you need or want and leave the store. And don't be dick/asshole,and try to steal from the store that caught you in the first place. If you feel that you have to steal,do it in another store ,a different store. But it's better not to steal (leave that to the folks who can buy off the justice system-let God take care of them in the afterlife, maybe they can polish the harps and clean the pearly gates).Seriously though,if you get caught stealing/shoplifitng a second time, you really set yourself up for a lot of trouble. Not only will you have another blemish on your record;law enforcement and most people will have you branded as a ****ing idiot.
My counsler at stoplift told the class "unless you have money or political clout ,most likely you'll do some jail time if you get caught shoplifting,or doing some other things that are against the law".
I think the only way I can get in trouble with the law again is if I have to defend myself or my family on the street or from a home invasion.I don't plan on getting arrested again for something stupid and that can go on my record and follow me around for 5 ,10 years or even life, depending on what it is.People like myself have to be careful, and do the right thing as much as possible. Not just for moral reasons and being a good person, but also because I don't have any relatives in law enforcement,or the state legislature, and I can't but any justice;I don't have "star power"(actors and actors and politically connected people, and the like that have the clout, sexiness, and money to get away with things most of us would go to jail or prison for).Sometimes even the big fish and the privliged, and the VIP's,and the polictically connected have to do jail and prison time-we all get caught eventually---------but still--------a a poor mans felony is a rich mans misdeameanor.I read a lot of injustice stories,so maybe I'm being a bit too cynical,I don't know. I made a mistake in my last letter.I meant to say I don't have money to BUY justice;I think the word that came out was "but".This post refers to my letter that I just posted a few minutes ago 03/10/06.Thank You UFCRF.

I'm not sure if walmart has ever pressed trespassing charges on people who re-enter walmarts after signing that paper. I myself will never go to a walmart ever again in fear of being humiliated sence I signed that paper or being re-arrested.

Here I go again. In my letter last night(March 10, 2006) I meant to say, something like;forget about the no trespassing order;just go into the store and BUY what you want or need and leave the store.Don't be a dick and go in with a disguise(like some people have been suggesting).Don't attract attention to yourself.I know in my letter everyone can figure out that I meant "BUY "and not "but"; but I figure I wanted to correct myself anyway. This refers to my long letter of March 10,2006.
I just feel its unfair to be banned from Walmart, for one stupid mistake.I went to the court and got a copy of the charge; and it says my case was dismissed.I have been back to Walmart to shop since than and haven't had any problems.
It was a wake up call for me,since I shoplifted 30 times before, from Walmart and other stores, without getting caught. The one time you get caught really sucks. And I guess I made more than one stupid mistake;anyway,I got caught ,paid the price, and learned my lesson;now I'll just move on.

*BUMP* I have not returned to Walmart and have no desire to do so. Not a sams club, not a walmart, not even a walmart gas station.

Thank you for your post. I appreciated you writing about the "after". Your's is the first I have read that describes what happened and what they did.

If you have time, can you read my post (dated today apr.12)? Let me know what you think, if you don't mind. I know that our situtions are slightly different, but I think Target has a similar policy to Wal-Mart.

I hope everything will improve for you and thanks again

ANYBODY........is there any way of keeping it out of the paper? Do they print every crime?

Guess it depends on where the shoplifting charges happend and if that local paper does the police blogger. Now that I'm 6 months past my last court date I'm thinking more of what I have to do to get my arrest exponged off my record so I can think about switching jobs after I get the expongement. I'm way to afraid to switch jobs and start setting myself up for backround checks even though I'm past my supervision and dismissal. I know the arrest will always show and that I wasn't convicted of a crime, but did do supervision so thats just as bad.
