If your arrested and go to court there is a record. If store only files for Civil Demand ther eis no conviction record because criminal charges were not filed. However some retailers have a 'database that they input shoplifters names into that other retailers can view
so even if i was arressted the store could still only file for a civil demand
btw thanks for all your help you are making this process a lot easier
how long does this all take its been 45 days and iv heard nothing
For which? Civil Demand or court?
both (and again your help is priceless thankyou)
If you were arested and charged they have to set a trail date very soon. If you were not arrested they have until SOL runs out to charge you. Far as Civil Demand goes normally its a week or two before you get letter but it can take months
well i guess then it boils down 2 what is considered "very soon" as i said i was arrested and fingerprinted w/photo taken and its been over a month and a half. my friend has not recieved anything also. could the store have decided not to press charges? or is the system just slow.
I'm sorry but the expertlaw crystal ball is currenlty not working
