    Damage To Custom Paint Job
yesterday. I was behind 2 other vehicles, and the first vehicle missed his turn, so he pulled off the road. He let the car in front of me go around him, and I guess he didn't look in his mirror to see if anyone else was coming, and pulled out in front of me to make a U turn. He never turned on a signal or anything. I locked the brakes up, and laid on the horn, and tried to avoid hitting him, but caught him in the rear fender behind the driver's side rear wheel. A police report was written up. One thing I'm wandering, since my car is custom painted, and there is no paint code, will his insurance company be responsible for repainting the whole car to make it pre-accident condition, since it will be almost impossible to match the paint? Also, does it sound pretty cut & dry that he was the one at fault?

Make a claim based on the cost of repairing the custom paint job and see what they do. You can expect them to argue that they should only have to repaint the damaged panels. Your exact rights could depend on the laws of your state.

Your description makes it appear that the other driver is at fault. Is that what the police concluded?

I believe he is considered at fault, although no citations were issued to either of us. I don't see why he wouldn't be at fault, since he entered onto the roadway without a signal or anything, and was making a U-turn. do you see any reasoning as to why he would not be responsible given the facts I have provided here??
