Mr. Knowitall
How about showing some courtesy here. You were asking for
free help on a
weekend.
Georgia's statutory rape law provides,
Georgia also has a
child molestation law. Beyond that, I have know way of knowing what law you might be charged with violating.
You know? after browsing these forums and posts. I've read about older guys on here doing things with a girl that isn't 18 yet, but is over the age of consent.
16 is one thing. But as far as 17 goes. i've got a few questions out of curiosity. When a girl is 16 she's still a minor as far as the Ga laws are concerned. Although the age of majority is 18 in georgia. According to the ga code on charges such as child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a minor, lewd acts etc...
They all say the crimes are committed if the victim is under 16 years of age. Even the law that's about "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" says either "under 17 years of age, or under 18 years of age if the person is deprived".
So with that said, im' not saying that it's ok to go around and sleep with young girls. But as far as that goes. What specifically are people referring to when they talk about the accused having to register as a sex offender? or... its' not a good idea and etc...
Re: Statutory Rape in Georgia
Certain sex offenders have to keep the state continuously updated with their address for a number of years after they are convicted, possibly for the rest of their lives. The specifics vary by conviction charge and by state.

Well, if you sleep with a child under the AOC and are convicted of Stat Rape you will serve a term in prison and when you are released you would have to Register as a Sex Offender. Every place you move to you will have to go to the Police Dept and sign a form to alert the police and the community that a sexual offender lives in town.
So...it really isn't a good idea to sleep with children!

Hmm... i think a moderator took my question and put it in it's own thread. But the question was actually if the girl was 17. In Georgia. What specifically would get you into trouble? The AOC is 16. Child molesting, lewd acts to entice a minor, etc... All of those define minor/child as anyone under 16. Even contribution to unruliness and deliquency of a minor states that a minor means anyone 17 years of age.

Re: Statutory Rape in Georgia
You could get in trouble if you broke the law. You can look at the criminal codes yourself and see if there are any laws you might be breaking, based upon the actions you intend to take. The Georgia Code is here.

I didn't break any laws. Nor was i involved in that kind of activity with anybody. I was just curious because i keep reading about things like this and some people are worried because one person is above 18 and another is only a year younger at 17. So i did a quick search under that link you gave me before. Statutory talks about people under 16. Molestation, enticing someone for lewd acts, etc... all of those refer to "child" as someone under 16 years of age. Even contributing to the unruliness of a minor specifies anybody under 17 years of age.
I searched for terms like minor, child, sexual, statutory, and lewd. But couldn't come up with anything. I'm just curious as to what one would be charged with in Georgia? I know some other states are a little different.

I found all kinds of stuff on the site Aaron gave you.
He would probably be happy to search it for you if you pay him enough.
Re: Statutory Rape in Georgia
Look at the statutes and decide what, if anything, you could be charged with. Obviously if we take you at your word that you are not breaking any laws, we won't be able to identify any laws that you are breaking.
