Help With Shoplifting And Civil Demand in Illinois
I was caught shoplifting at macy's yesterday. I'm not a minor. the amount was for $140. they made me sit in a room and took my photograph and called the police. later cops took my photograph and fingerprints and then issued me a ticket for $200. they said that no court appearance is necessary as this is my first felony. i have few questions:
1) macy's staff said that i would be receiving a civil demand notice in 2 to 3 weeks. what is it?
2) i read it differs from state to state - any idea about illinois civil demand?
3) do i have to appear at court eventhough its my first felony?
4) i gave all accurate information. does that affect my records? will i have a criminall record in the future?
Please help. any answers would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I would guess yours around $300.00 to $400.00 but I could be wrong
3) do i have to appear at court eventhough its my first felony?Thsi was not a felony! If it was your butt would have been hauled to jail. If court allows you to pay a fine and forgt it then ok check with your local court
4) i gave all accurate information. does that affect my records? will i have a criminall record in the future? You were arrested and charged with theft if you pay fine (guilty plea) then yes you will have a criminal record
