    California judgments are valid for ten years, and can be renewed. So if you don't pay and the creditor keeps renewing the judgment, it never goes away. If they don't renew and it expires, the debt becomes unenforceable.

    What do you mean? As you were just told, an expired judgment debt would become unenforceable.
