Parents Wanting To Have Child Emancipated
    Brazos Co. Texas

As parents of a very out of control almost 16 year old (June 07 he will be 16) how do we go about having him emancipated? He has not lived with us for over a year and his current living arrangements have ended. He will not come home and going to a "boys homes" is out of the question ...he refused to go and the homes can't make him stay. When he was at home he was very aggressive and verbably abusive and would steal to get whatever he needed/wanted. He has not entered the juve system but it is just a matter of time. He will not attend school (8th grade for the 3rd time) and if he does he is just going to "sit in class" so he can legally quit at 17. What are the options? We have contacted boys homes, the juve court and we are out of options. We do not have the $$ to send him to military school. HELP!

Why would a judge grant emancipation to such a troubled teen!? I really don't see that as an option

WE have no control and he is abusive to all parents. He want to be on is own. The courts will not order him to a home or any other options. He a kid that if he does not get his way he may use deadly force to get his way.

You have the money to send for boot camp? I don't. Jail won't keep him. He can't go to the military he's not 18 and not a graduate he can't/won't pass the 8th grade.

So, how is he going to support himself (which is a requirement for emancipation)?

I guess he will get a job or live in the streets. He won't come live with us or go to a home. He want to be on this OWN. He will not come to us or anyone else, he will slum or do what it takes to stay away from us. He does not want to follow anyone's rules other than his own.

Legally you cannot throw your child to the street. Furthermore anything he does you are responsible for. Example if he damages property you are theones who are that will pay for that

Let's pretend for a moment that a judge will even consider emancipating an out of control child (which he will not).

He has to HAVE the job and be able to demonstrate how he will support himself, before emancipation will be granted. Emancipation for a child would would be "living on the streets" absolutely will not happen. Don't imagine for a moment that it will.
