    Shoplifting Offense in California
Hi-- I committed a shoplifting offence in a Target in california. The charges are filed under P.C.459. I feel so disgusted about myself and equally scared. I have a court date in next 4 weeks and have so many questions. I have been staying in this country and state for only last 6 years and this is the first time I have gotten into legal issues, so have following question. Will greatly appreciate any help.

    1. This is my very first charge of any kind. I am married, mom of two, has never done this and will never do this again. What should I expect in court?

    2. Should I hire an attorney. If yes, how to find an attorney? I was told my the bail bondsman that I will be provided a lawyer from county but they are no good.

    3. Should I find out from the police station on the details of the charge and what was reported.

    4. Is it worth talking to the person in Target who turned me in. He promised if I state the truth, he won't press any charges. I did but he still called the police and pressed the charges. Would talking to him again help anyway?

Would be greatful for any help. This incident happended just today.

    Thanks..

well it is good this is your first time getting caught. But trust us when we know this is NOT the first time you have stole so please just be honest with us so we can be honest and respect you

    2. Should I hire an attorney. If yes, how to find an attorney? I was told my the bail bondsman that I will be provided a lawyer from county but they are no good.Well it would be in your best intrest to have one. You can ask around or check the phone book and make a few calls

    3. Should I find out from the police station on the details of the charge and what was reported. You will want to know any info you can get so it would not hurt to do this

    4. Is it worth talking to the person in Target who turned me in. He promised if I state the truth, he won't press any charges. I did but he still called the police and pressed the charges. Would talking to him again help anyway?

Hi-- Believe me this is my first time, I am not lying-- pure, pure honest. I have 2 little kids and I just don't know why I did it. It was for $41.00. They guy in target promised not to press charges and asked me to say the truth., but when the police came he did say the truth. He initimidated me, was quite impolite, put words in my mouth, held me for 45 minutes in the store. Having said that, I am the guilty one and did this stupid thing.

    Please help.
