Moving Out Instead Of Moving to A Different State
I am 17. i live in florida. i am a female. i make $500 + a week at the commisary, and i plan to get a bartending job when i am 18/emacipated. i plan to go to a junior college on my 100/75% brightfutures scholarship (100% at this college, 75 at major universities) i also have $2,400 total for the next 4 semesters at this college only. my problem is that i wont be 18 until sept 2, and classes start aug 20 something. my mom is going to gainesville, fl in july, and will be dragging my happy @-- down there with her if i dont have papers that say i am my own person. i have 3 houses to live at, and one already picked out. if i do move out, my mom is taking away any phone/car/horse and health help. im okay with that. i have a car set aside that i am going to be able to drive on liablity insurance (my car insurance is really high, so i cant afford full cov.)
    i need:
to know if this is legit
emanciapion packet - i couldnt find it in the law library, and nobody would help me:wallbang:

i would apreciate it if i could get some help
    thankyou for your time

    Re: Is this Legit?
your parent must file for emancipation in FL, but the proceedings would likely take longer than it takes to turn 18.

    Re: Is this Legit?
I would suggest talking to your mother about this and expressing some empathy for her feelings, but trying to get her consent to stay. It's not "legit" per se, but realistically, if you refuse to move in July, or came back to Florida in mid-August, nobody is likely to make you move to California during those last few weeks or days before you turn 18.

Your mom may seem needy, unreasonable, dictatorial, whatever. But the most likely explanation for her opposition is that she's not ready for her little girl to move away.
