You cannot be emancipated at age 14 and your 19 year old BF can go to jail if the two of you are having sex.
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
The only state that will even consider emancipating a 14 year old is California, and even there to be emancipated at that age you'd better be either a starring child actor or a nationally recognized sports figure.
Your BF is in a HUGE amount of legal trouble if you are engaging in any sexual activity.

no judge will emancipate you so you can live with your adult bf. when you are 18, you can move in with him, but untill then, forget it.its not going to happen
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
We ARE NOT engaging in any sexual activities. If the simple fact for me not to go live with him.. than i won't i do have other places. I have beeen pretty much supporting myself. My aunt goes to work at 2:30 even before i get home. I cook. clean, babysit and walk to the store with my social security money to get food for the house. I don't know. I guess I should wait until ia m 17 than i can legally move out right?
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
You cannot move out without the consent of your legal guardian until you are 18.
So, you're paying the rent? The utility bills? You're not even coming close to supporting yourself.
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
No i'm not paying rent. You all do ahve a point. However we do not have utitlity bill, but I did average it out. I guess I need to grow up a bit, before I think about moving out.. SO thanks ;] ..I take advice.. well.. and I have come to the conclusion. I will finish school out until i graduate which I will be 17.... I will go to college for culinary, drama rhetoric, and then get my license for teaching and so forth. Thank you.
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
Good decision. However, just one detail. The law does not say, you can move out when you graduate. The law does not say, you can move out when you're 17. YOU CANNOT MOVE OUT WITHOUT PERMISSION UNTIL YOU ARE 18.

It sounds like you have some good goals ahead of you, good luck.
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
If your mom didnt leave any documentation obout whom you are to live with. Then you can be emacipated. In WA State if you are 16 and older OR you have suffecient evedience that your not being provided for properly then you can be emancipated as a minor. BUT you have to prove you can live on your own, go to school, have an income, have a job, and that you can take care of other things that are not as important as in you social life. :p

What in the hell are you talking about?
To begin with, the OP is not in WA she is in GA. I won't even begin to comment on what else is wrong with your post.

Okay exscue me. I was taught not too disrespect elders, and even if it is over the internet. I refuse to listen to you talk about my boyfriend/fiance.. What ever. You do not know him, but if he was looking for sex. I would have broken up with him. I have told him the rules and he is okay with that. He told me that he does not want to go to jail. I do not want him to go to jail. If he ever even touches me in the way I think is unlady like. I will break up with him... and that would be that. Oh yes.. and if he was planning on it happening soon we have been dating for 2 months....he would have tried already. So, thank you very much... :),

Re: Emancipating At Age 14
Okay, I get that you are only 14, but come on, now. You have been dating this 19 year old for 2 months and you think that this relationship is solid enough to base major life altering decisions upon?
You're smarter than that. I know you are.
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
I found out something today. My mother did not leave a legitimate guardian and we did not og to court. So do I even have a guardian that worries me. I mean social security is coming to my uant. She has me illegitamely registered in school. My grandmother worked at the other school[[which is a rather country bumpkin school]] and she registered me there, because I lived with ehr before anything ahd happen with my mother. My aunt lied and said she was trying to get custody or legal guardianship. So my question is do I even have a guardian? If I do how did this come about happening just by transferring to school? There was no papers....I am in awe. How could they do all this without going to court? I am too scared to ask a gudiance counselor in fear she would have me and my cousins removed from the house and thrown into a foster home...
Thanks for the help,
Sarah

I know, but I trust him in a way. I guess.. I am not sure.. I guess I am trying to fill this empty spot since feb. after my mother died.. I have known him for way longer than 2 months.. we were good friends
Re: Emancipating At Age 14
CPS is not in the habit of removing kids from their families and putting them in foster care for no reason. Even if your mother did not make your aunt a legal guardian, that doesn't mean CPS would take you out of your aunt's house unless your aunt's house is unfit for some reason. There is generally a shortage of foster homes and CPS would much rather you stay with family members.
