Possession of Marijuana by a California Minor

hey everyone im new to this site but it seems quiet helpful.

so heres what happened. i was at school and had around a gram on me and someone found out and i was pulled in the office and searched. They asked if i had pot on me at first i said no the 2 seconds later i said yes and gave it to them. they knew i had it and knew i was gonna smoke it after school with friends, so they said im lucky they caught me before school was over or i could have gotten busted with intent to distribute. They never made it clear if i was in trouble for intent to distribute but for sure i was in trouble for possesion.

So my counseler who we will call Dr. Dumbass was unsure to call the police or not so he tried to call a lady to see if he should or not. she didnt answer so he tells me that he is going to call the police department and asked them if this is a case where they should come talk to me. So he calls the sherif deparment and says, "i have a student hear with less than a gram of pot. can you come down?" didnt ask if it was a reasonible case just told him to come. 2 mins later the lady calls back and says there is no need for the sherif. sherif came and i was arrested and released to my school. So im pretty angry about that.

Yesterday i recieved a notice saying i have court on the 22nd. So my question is what do you think will be the charges? will i have to go to drug class for poession of less than a gram on a first offense? and also do you think im charged with intent to distribute?

If it's less than a gram and there's no other evidence that you're dealing, the odds are that you'll be charged with simple possession.

If you are a juvenile, the matter will be handled by San Diego County Juvenile Probation. Ordinarily, this is an offense that results in a fine and counseling for you.

Here is the penalty for marijuana possession on campus if you are under 18:

11357(e) Except as authorized by law, every person under the age of 18
who possesses not more than 28.5 grams of marijuana, other than
concentrated cannabis, upon the grounds of, or within, any school
providing instruction in kindergarten or any of grades 1 through 12
during hours the school is open for classes or school-related
programs is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to the
following dispositions:
(1) A fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250), upon
a finding that a first offense has been committed.
(2) A fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500), or
commitment to a juvenile hall, ranch, camp, forestry camp, or secure
juvenile home for a period of not more than 10 days, or both, upon a
finding that a second or subsequent offense has been committed.

Counseling and probation are frequently added for minors.
