Do You Have to Go to Court for a Courtesy Notice
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: CA
I've got a ticket for not completely stopping at stop sign. Then, some time ago, I received a courtesy notice, where all the amounts I need to pay are $0. Also, when I try to search my case online, it says case not found. I also searched by driver's license number, and I found my past cases from few years ago, but not this one. What should I do? Should I go to court and request arraignment, or just skip it altogether, since I'm not in the system?
Re: Strange Courtesy Notice
It's possible the amounts on the courtesy notice were entered in error. How long is it until the court date on your actual ticket? If it there is still time until it comes, you should keep checking to see if the ticket shows up. You may even consider going on the assigned court date to make sure there hasn't been a snafu that ends up with a warrant for you.

I can go there tomorrow. Should I?
I was checking online since November, and it's still not there. Courtesy notice due date is 1/12.

You should go to court and check it out.
Re: Strange Courtesy Notice
Please provide a basic timeline.
When did you receive the "ticket for not completely stop sign"?
When did you "receive[] a courtesy notice"?

1/12 is a Saturday, which is bizarre unless your local traffic court happens to have a Saturday session. If I were you, I'd call the court clerk this afternoon and, if that doesn't clear it up, appear in court tomorrow.

Ticket received on 9/27
Courtesy notice received on 11/15
I don't think they have a Saturday sessions.
Re: Strange Courtesy Notice
It takes a while for citations to show up in the system, I believe. I remember checking for like 5 months or so yet some other yahoo's name/fine kept popping up. Finally mine showed a week prior to the arraignment IIRC. Called the night before and got a free 2 month extension.

Yes, but I can't even pay online, cause the case can't be found. I actually wanted to pay this ticket (amount of $0).
Re: Strange Courtesy Notice
I recently got a cellphone ticket that the courts or cops lost.
I went to the courthouse and requested written proof that I appeared for that citation, even though it was not in the system.
About 6 month later it came in the mail with no late charges.

Then I hope you're down at the courthouse this morning.

Yes, I went there, and they found the ticket, and corrected the bail to $238. I first asked if I can pay the ticket with $0, or take a traffic school at $0, but the answer was no. Asked for arraignment.

I figured the courtesy notice was in error but it never hurts to ask. Now, you need to start considering where to go from here. Do you believe you properly stopped at the stop sign? If so, you have to decide if you want to fight the ticket. That will require being able to poke holes in the state's case against you, which is often an uphill climb, or playing procedural games in the hopes they mess up somewhere. If you know that you did what they are accusing you of, you have 2 options. You can pay the fine and see about taking traffic school to mask the point or you can fight the ticket in the sense that you make the state prove their case against you in court.

Heh, asked to pay 0$? You're a funny guy. What do you mean, "asked for arraignment"? Arraignments are usually walk-in court, typically in the morning. You pick any date before your due date... don't have to schedule or anything.
They seem to be a sloppy outfit, so they just may mess up in other ways too. I'd "play procedural games."

Here you need to schedule. They scheduled me for March.
Of course I will play procedural games.
