What Happens if You're Charged With Shoplifting at a Self Checkout
If you have been caught shoplifting merchandise at Walmart valued under 30 bux and no cops were called but they took all your info and a picture and told you to expect to receive a civil demand letter did you also receive criminal charges at later point in time? Or the the civil demand the end of it. My friend got caught not scanning items at self check out n she is worried that she may receive a summons in the mail even though they told her otherwise. Anyone with similar experiences please share what happened. Thx.

Certainly it is possible she could still get criminally charged. No one here can tell you what some unknown store manager/loss prevention employee in some unknown state will do. She'll just have to wait it out and see what happens. The worry she has is the consequence of stealing. If she didn't want to deal with the risks that go with stealing, like possibly getting criminally charged, she ought not have tried stealing in the first place. Perhaps this experience will be enough to deter her from trying it again.
Re: Anyone Caught Shoplifting at Walmart Via Self Checkout
This is not a forum where criminals gather to compare notes about their crimes.
Also, I wonder if your friend would be pleased about you identifying the victim of her crime on a public message board. The retailer you identified is the largest in the U.S. and has a rather sophisticated loss prevention department that includes folks who search the internet for stuff like this.

I suspect Mistake123 has their "friend's" consent.

I'm at a loss to understand why your suspicions about a matter about which you obviously have no more information than what's in the original post should be of interest to anyone.
