Red Light Camera Ticket After Getting Stuck in an Intersection Behind a Bus
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California

    9/19/2018 around 3:00 p.m. in Los Angeles.
I was on Western passing Exposition and there's a camera enforced.
It was green light so I kept going and it was green light all the way.
However, there was a bus in front of me and that bus stopped to pick up people. The bus stop was right on the corner of the street, that I was stuck in middle of the crosswalk lane. back side of my car was sticking out into the intersection and my car was in the crosswalk behind the bus. I did not have enough time to change lanes due to so much traffic. Then the light turned red and then the bus moved forward.
So I was basically in the crosswalk and little bit in the intersection when the light became red.

So does anyone know if I will get a ticket?
If so, how long does it take to get it and how much??
Is there a way to check if I did get a ticket?
Do actual human review the photo or video from the camera to decide if the drivers at fault?
    Any tips?
This is very frustrating and unfortunate.

The front of your car must pass the limit line prior to the light changing to red. If you are in the intersection, however much and then the light changes to red it is not a red light violation.

Intersections with red light cameras in California are equipped with two loop sensors that are embedded in the road prior to the limit line. This picks up the speed of the vehicle just prior to the limit line. If the vehicle is traveling above the threshold speed (I believe its 7 mph, but I could be wrong) then the cameras start recording video and the flashes usually activate. These videos are reviewed by the company contracted for the camera system. Violations are generally forwarded to the local agency that has jurisdiction of the intersection. An officer then reviews the video and still photos and compares the photos of the driver with the dmv photo of the registered owner. If it's not a match then the officer checks a database for other people who live at the home and checks their DMV photos. If the match a photo of a driver with the DMV photo then a citation is mailed to them and to the court.

Since say you were in the intersection prior to the light turning red you have no issue with a red light violation.

No. The most anyone here could tell you is that you might get a ticket.

Probably within 3-4 weeks or less, and probably somewhere in the $200-500 range.

Ummm...you posted this three hours after the incident. I guarantee you that you had not gotten a ticket at that time and that, at the time I am posting (10 a.m. the next day) you still have not yet gotten one. But you might get one. If you get a violation notice in the mail, then you'll know. If a couple months pass and you haven't received anything, then you can reasonably assume nothing will come of this.

The Vehicle Code (I don't know the exact section and don't feel like looking it up, but I'm sure you can google it) requires that a driver not enter an intersection unless the intersection can be cleared before the light turns red. Be mindful of that in the future.

    21453(a) $490.

However, as indicated by previous posts, there are a times the cameras flash (they can't really tell if you are going to run the red light before the fact) when you didn't violate the law. As you were told, if you were behind the line before the light switched to red, you are not guilty. You'll have to give it the 15 days (plus a few for the mail).

You probably won't get a ticket. Relax.

My post should have red "beyond" not "behind" the line.
