    My Dentist Has Hepatitis-C
Is there anything I can do regarding the fact that I just found out my dentist has Hep-C? Shouldn't he tell his patients? Yeah, yeah, he wears gloves, but given the choice between two D. D. S.s in gloves, one with hepatitus C and one without which would you pick?

I would check with the state licensing board, though I doubt that there is any obligation to disclose it to the patients. Probably just a duty to take some special precautions to minimize the likelyhood of transmission of the disease.

Yes, I would choose another dentist.

all I can say is my thread would not read "my dentist" it would be more like "my former dentist"

I may be an alarmist but since hep c is not curable and the treatment for it is very expensive, I would err on the side of caution.

    I absolutely concur.

Do any of you think that I should spread the word? I know you may think it ill-advised to meddle, but consider this-How do you know he isn't your dentist? Of course he most likely isn't (though I am in California Californiamom) but the point is that every customer would want to know. Hep-C more or less means that you will die of liver cancer sooner or later. No ripe old age.

Though I am big on the dentist being able to have his business, despite his illness, I'll have you know that I just got off of my sick bed from a bad experience at the dentist (another malpractice thread). So... even though I believe it's the dentist's responsiblility to divulge that information to his patients, I wouldn't be mad if you PM'd me his information (name, location) just in case;)
