    Wal Mart Shoplifting Issues
Gonna make this quick. Was shopping today with my daughter at Wal Mart. Found a Mavs shirt I liked and threw it over my shoulder. Walked around about 30 more mins and picked up a few more things. She was bugging me about a magazine and I told her she could buy it herself. This is what distracted me. Went through self check out. Walked out and was stopped by two guys and a girl. Asked if I paid for shirt and was really embarrased to find it still on my shoulder. Apologized and told them would pay for it. Took me to "the room" and got my info, no police called (shirt was 15.00), didn't sign anything, no pictures and was givin a paper about civil damages and told would be contacted. I asked if I could still purchase the shirt and was told no. What the hell? No way will I pay anything for something I really intended on buying. I asked why didn't greeter stop me or why wasn't I stopped before leaving and none of this would've happened. At least the self check out broad coulda asked me about it before I leave, what the hell are the door people there for? I even waved and said bye to her. It's like they were waiting for me to walk out. Was an honest mistake. If I were to steal something I would be a little more discreet and it wouldn't be a damn 15 dollar shirt. Soooooo, has anyone not paid this fine? Has anyone gone to court over this? Do you think I can fight this? I know people steal intentionally but there has to be a way for them to determine if somethings an honest mistake. Thanks for the help. In Texas BTW.

Re: Wal Mart issues (what's new)
Sorry but you met the legal criteria for theft. Your lucky the could prosecute you! If you fail to pay the "Civil Demand" you can be sued for more plus court costs! It may have been a mistake but it met legal criteria for shoplifting. By the way regardless if your telling the truth or not almost every shopifter says it was an accident. they refused to le tyou pay to avoid Civil suit on them or any claim you may make later saying you bought item

Wow that is the same story I have heard so many times... the whole forgot it, why did the door guy not stop me(not his problem), I would steal something worth more then this, I would have been more discreet etc. THese are four of the most common shoplifter excuses. So I would just own up to your mistake and pay the fine. You are VERY LUCKY they did not call the cops and get this on your record plus more court fees and fines.
