Caught Shoplifting

I was caught shoplifting on 4/18 here in Boston, MA. I was caught shoplifting eight years ago. This is my second offense and I am very worried about what the outcome will be. I am now HIV + and on SSDI. When the Police Officer came to the scene he asked me if I was on any medication. I guess he asked me that question since my face is very thin. I am 41yrs old single, live alone and am unemployed. I will be getting a summons in the mail to appear before a Magistrate sometime in the next few days. When I do show up in court should I plead guilty? I cannot afford an attorney and do not know what else to do. Can you please give me some advice on what to do and how to handle the situation?
