How long can they keep a bankruptcy on my credit report?
I have read two different time frames and I need to know. My Chapter 7 bankruptcy is eight years old, Filed : 05/01/1997 and Discharged: 09/01/1997. Shouldn't this be off of my credit report by now? I also heard somewhere that it can stay on as long as 10 years. my FICO score is almost 700, and imagine how much better it will be without this hanging over me.

Can I request that the Individual Credit Reporting Agencies delete this information from my credit file due to it's old age and expired status, or do I have to wait 2 more years?

I am eager to get this off my reports. Please help!
