Making Plans to Meet Somebody Who is Under 18

My question involves criminal law for the state of: MD
I was talking to a girl on a dating app and we made a plan to meet. She never told me her age and asked to see my I.D to make sure i was over 18. Afterwards she said that she is under 18 and is going to report me. She never told me her age and we never met. Can i be charged for this?

Chances are this was some sort of a scam and an attempt to extort money is not - or would not have been - far behind. And some people simply get their jollies scamming people like you. Your little girlfriend could have been a 40 year old guy.

Unless you sent her improper images or engaged in some form of inappropriate behavior, merely chatting with a minor and agreeing to meet is hardly a crime.

Two suggestions: One, don't engage her in conversation ever again. And, two, get off of hookup sites and meet people and DATE them ... it's a time honored tradition and actually has worked for many years before the internet and cell phones existed.

Thank you sir. I have spoken to local police as well and they told me the same that you have. I have deleted all dating apps and will be doing exactly what you said. meeting woman the old fashioned way and taking them out to dinner and or a movie. Thank you again.
