What happens if you are to run away in Texas when you are 17 I have been told by a friends mom that the cop told here when her daughter ran away that it is not illegal to run away in texas it is illegal what you do when you runaway such as stealing and ect. I mean can you be put in lock up and stuff like that?

What they were relating to is a lot of Police wont (keyword wont) look for a 17 year old. That does not make it legal nor does it stop your parents from having police drag you back home once your found! It would not stop your parents from filing charges criminal and/or civil on those who harbored you. It would not stop your parents from getting a protective order againist same persons as well. Lastly it would not stop your parents from stating your incoriable and sending you to boot camp! running away is not an option. If you have serious siies at home contact CPS if not deal with it for one more year!
