Using a False Paystub to Get a Car Loan
A car buyer purchased a car, using as proof of income for the car loan application some check stubs generated through a website. The loan was later rejected when the lender found out that the proof of income was fake.
Now the seller is telling the buyer that it is going to report the car as stolen, and that the buyer is going to face criminal charges. What should the buyer do?
Re: Using a False Paystub to Get a Car Loan
The car buyer is at legal risk for fraud, both in relation to the car dealership and the loan application. Obtaining a car in in that manner could be prosecuted as criminal fraud, larceny by trick, or a similar offense.
If the car buyer believes that the police are now involved or will soon be involved, it makes sense to consult a criminal defense lawyer.
