    How Many Times Can You Be Charged a Late Fee
    My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California , Fresno. Lets say rent is due the first of the month and a late fee if not paid in full by the 5th. If I only pay part of the rent by the 5th and the balance paid on the first of the following month , how many times can I be charged a late fee for the late rent the month before? Also I was wondering if my rent is $99.00 dollars a month can the late fee be $100 dollars (more than I pay for rent each month)?

    You can be charged a new late fee every month because, until you pay in full, every month is late.

    However, $100 late fee on a rent of $99 would not be upheld in court.
