Can an Indian National Divorce in the United States
    Hi,

I am indian born naturalized citizen of US. My wife is also indian born naturalized US citizen.

we were both married in india and after marriage she became US citizen.

Recently my wife has file for divorce in US.

    My question is:

    1. can she file for divorce in US, or she needs to file in India also?

    2. If she gets divorce in US, can it be considered divorce in india?

    Thanks,

    neil

She can get a divorce in the U.S., and India will normally recognize a U.S. divorce. As for whether you might have grounds to require an ancillary action to divide any property located in India, or grounds to oppose India's recognition of a U.S. divorce (if you are presently domiciled in India and not in the U.S.), those are questions to pose to a lawyer in India.
