Mistake On A Virginia Speeding Ticket
I received a VA Speeding ticket today, 67 in a 55. It is possible I was going that fast as I was gliding down a huge hill (you know, foot off the gas). We just moved here from Florida so hills are new to us and we do enjoy them. I started at the top of the hill from cruise control at 55, usually I only make it up to 60 or so then the cruise catches again when we start back up the hill. The officer was driving towards me when he radared me. Is it even possible to radar someone when driving in the opposite direction?
On the ticket he wrote my license plate incorrectly. It is actually WARMN UP and he wrote WARM UP. Is that in itself enough of a reason for a dismissal?
Re: Mistake On A Virginia Speeding Ticket
Did he get your driver's license state and number right?
Re: Mistake On A Virginia Speeding Ticket
Yes he did get that correct. I do still have a FL license and he questioned me about that as well but did not cite me for it.
Re: Mistake On A Virginia Speeding Ticket
Minor mistakes are not enough for a speeding ticket to be dismissed. The license plate number has nothing to do with the offense. Moving radar has been the norm for a number of years and now front and rear radar is common. If you show up on your court date they may dismiss with court costs or at least reduce the fine/points. You need to go ahead and get a VA license.
Be aware that 20+ over the speed limit or 80+ anywhere in Virginia is a reckless driving ticket which will cost you $$$$! You're not in Florida anymore.
