Chances of Going To Jail

I was caught shoplifting at Target in Va. I'm 18 and the value was 53 dollars worth. my record is completely clean, nothing, not even a traffic violation. What are my chances of going to jail? I was charged with petit larceny. Am I looking at just fines and community service? If i get just fines and community service, does this show up on my record or will it only be on my record if I get jail time?

Who do I contact at my job to tell them about this charge? Do I talk to my store manager or do I go directly to Human Resources? I work at a grocery store.

Why do you feel obligated to tell them? Do you wish to be fired? Find a criminal defense Attorney and dicuss diversion as a possible option for you. Diversion can work as a guilty plea without a conviction on your record
