Will You Have to Go to Court for Shoplifting if You're Caught and Released
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
I was caught shoplifting from Kohls. Nothing big but something I now look back and see how stupid I was. This item would have costed me no more than $20. Anyway I walk out the store and 2 gentlman approach me and ask to see me inside. They ask me if there is anything I would like to declare before we begin. I already knew I was caught so I gave up the item. They took my info from my i.d and my picture. They told me I was no longer allowed on this property or any other kohls property again. If I do however step back in I would be recognized by a facial recognition system and a warrent for my aresst will be issued. The papers I signed asked for basic info.Gentlman asked for me to repeat what he has stated and then i was let go. Now before my questions I feel incredibly imbarresed for taking something that honestly wasnt worth it. First amd last time i will ever do that again. First question, Will something be sent to me via mail to appear in court or pay a fine? How long till I can step foot on the property again? Finally will any of this show on my record.
Quick note they did not say anything about something being mailed to me but I just want to be sure before I have warrent for my arrest for failing to appear in court or not paying the fine

While it is possible you may hear from the police or prosecutor, chances are if the police weren't involved at the time, they aren't going to be. If you are contacted about charges, decline to speak to them without an attorney.

Until that time (which may never happen):

    1. Stop Stealing
    2. Stay out of Kohls.

What is going to likely happen is Kohls's lawyers will send you a demand to pay restitution for the damages people like you cause them.
