What Happens at a Hearing on Contempt in a Child Support Case

Im back. Court is on Tuesday. Arrears $1650. I can’t pay. I was assigned a lawyer. What can i do to get out of this?

This really is a fascinating thread! 14 pages of an idiotic OP yammering about mom, custody, CS and everything else? This is better than the soap opera my family life has been of late!

OP, I don't know what your deal is. I can't really tell, through this thread, if you're willfully thick or if you're a troll. You oscillate through worry of legal sanctions being imposed to crowing about how the legal system can't touch you. Well, least assured that the legal system can and will touch you though I suspect they'll wear some protective gloves. That they assigned an attorney to you is peculiar as this is an administrative procedure and not a criminal. It's also peculiar that you believe that the purpose of that attorney is to just give you explanations.

In the above post you claim, after taking a 2 week vacation including international travel, that you are not able to pay your arrearages in spite of the fact that somewhere back there you said that you paid all of the arrearages off and therefore you should just be allowed to walk.

You make little sense. Your posts are muddled and confusing. Why this thread has grown to this length mystifies me.

You can do nothing to get out of it, by the way.

Stop having kids you can't afford for one. For two - listen to your lawyer. Also better figure out how you're paying those arrears. That is really not that much. My ex is like 16000+ in arrears for four kids.

You were assigned the same lawyer that everyone gets. You better hope he's decent. You claimed you had no arrears before. I think your exact words were "no arrears no punishment", is that right? Your stories are all over the place. You are so broke, but you just went on vacation out of the country. You said it was your first hearing in one post, then you called it "another hearing" in another. You're either a troll or a compulsive liar. Maybe both. If you think the court doesn't know this, and won't take it into consideration, you are nuts. My ex husband was found guilty and one of the things brought up was him traveling and spending money on tattoos while he was $7000 in arrears. He said he had "extra money" and then was reminded that when you are $7000 behind on supporting your children, there is no "extra money". He got sentenced to 30 days in jail if the arrears aren't settled by a specified date. This is his first contempt on child support hearing. The courts get tired of dealing with deadbeats, especially ones who like to brag about not going to jail and think they are exempt from punishment. Clearly you need the constant attention or you are totally clueless about life.

If you're looking for sympathy, pal, you're in the wrong place.

Forgive me if I find it difficult to believe that the same person who spent 13 pages boasting about how he was immune from any adverse action is now remorseful on page 14 when he just found out that he isn't.

How did you finance an international vacation for 2 weeks if you are unable to pay child support? Why are you remorseful now when you mocked mothers for getting child support? Did you figure out that your attorney you were assigned is the same guy that every deadbeat gets assigned and he isn't going to do squat for you? You posted your documents, you were paying no child support for months and months and bragging about it. I imagine you will be in tears in court pleading for the judge to forgive you because you're so remorseful. If he is, you will be back here mocking the system for letting you go.

Im going to request a paternity test on the new born. We separated in January and she got back and married her wife in March. Newborn supposedly was born in February but I don’t buy that. The baby could be mine.
