Re: Will Bankruptcy Prevent a Lock Out After Foreclosure and a Sheriff's Sale
I was able to get in touch with a lawyer early this morning. He told me to go and fill out the forms again for a stay and to ask personally for the judge to give me an extension because of my disabilities. At the very last second to judge granted me an additional month. I’m still in shock and numb. Yesterday I was in New York City getting my treatment for Multiple Sclerosis. The side effects are, the flu for 48 hours. I’m not sure which I am more sick from, treatment, or the eviction . I need to get myself in order and take care of things as soon as I am feeling better. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate the advice that I was given from so many people. For all of you to respond to a nobody like me, with honesty, kindness, and professionalism, is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You were able to get into the court and before a judge, who ordered a stay/extension, before they arrived at 10am to evict you? That's an efficient court.
You need to hustle and find a new place real quick.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Hope it works out for OP.

Re: Will Bankruptcy Prevent a Lock Out After Foreclosure and a Sheriff's Sale
I know it sounds absolutely hard to believe. I was frantically calling any lawyers number that I could this morning. At 7:40, I lawyer by the name of Mark S cherry answer the phone. I said even though the girls were not in the office he decided to answer the phone. He told me that I could go And fill out the forms again, and request to go before the judge and plead for more time. He told me to put a note on the door saying not to enter that I was trying to go before the judge. I also called the sheriffs department to let them know when I was doing. They did tell me though that they could not stop a court order. My friend Drove me at 8:15 to the County Building. It is only 10 minutes from me. I filled out the forms and pleaded in writing to go before the judge. I filled out the paperwork again and the woman said that she would take it directly to the judge and give it to her as long as she was not on the bench. I went across the street to pay the $50 for the forms. While I was over there my neighbor let me know that the sheriffs department and moving trucks were at my house, by that time it was 9:50. While I was paying the $50 I wanna from the sheriffs department told me that the judge granted I stay for a month, and she was going to contact the people at my house. I know it sounds completely like a movie on tv, but I am telling the honest truth. I’m still in shock. When I got home, everyone was gone, except 2 moving trucks were parked on the side street and they left shortly after I got home.
Thank you Des.
