Is it Illegal to Buy Second-Hand Items then Return Them to Stores
My question involves criminal law for the state of: multiple
    The hypothetical situation
So few months back a guy on Craigslist was offering to pay 150/day for a driver. . . . .

Fast forward few months he figured out his hustle and started doing it in his own

This involves driving across america doing this.

He would go on ebay/Craigslist/Facebook and buy item cheap then return to store.
Was using it to explore America.
To be honest I know it was wrong but hewas suicidal and enjoy drugs.

S you want to become in involved in a criminal ring based on fraud? Sure hope it’s worth it. Personally, setting in jail is not something I want to do. Given the suggestion of this being a large scale operation, prison may even be in your future.

If you don't want to go to jail, you should stop committing fraud before someone finds out what you're doing.

Stop doing it. Speak of it to no one.

I dealt with several of these multi-state fraud rings when I was working retail loss prevention. Depending on the retailer(s) involved, they can have a lot of resources to deal with these things.

Who is the "They" who has lots of resources? And this would be federally right?

They are WalMart, Target and the other large retailers. And since it crosses state lines, yes, it could be federal but it could also be done at the state level.

This isn't the "how do I break the law and get away with it" forum. Representing that you purchased something from the store when you did not is illegal. We can't expound further on the chances of getting caught or how to evade such.
