Credit card in collections paid in full or not?
Missouri: A MasterCard was suppended and sent to National Fin.
Services for collection over a Sears ShopAtHome bill and
dispute. After Sears finally creditd back a few disputed
charges NFS was contacted and paid in full the amount
stated ($318). We called Sears first and they agreed with
that amount. We recieved confirmation from NFS that the
bill was paid in full, payment recieved and there was a
zero balance. 30 days later Sears began to rebill us with
two amounts, $93 late fees and $10 interest. Sears said
they didnt know why they or NFS told us a payoff figure
that didnt include these two amounts that were four months
old because they were right there on their (Sears) screen
all along. They said they could not take them off and they
would continue to go up if we didnt send them more money.
Sears wouldnt even take our payment the first time because
it was in collection at NFS. Now Sears is directly billing
us again after contracting with NFS to collect and we paid
exactly what both Sears and NFS said to pay to end and
finally close this six month dispute and the account.

Do you have anything in writing that says that the amount paid on a disputed account was full satisfaction?
