Can a Shoplifting Suspect Be Asked to Go Back to the Store
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia.

Can you be asked to return to store when larceny is suspected

You mean, if LPs catch you? Of course they can ask you to go back to the store. They can also ask you to pat your head and rub your belly at the same time, or to do jumping jacks.

Whether or not you have recourse if you are forced to comply will depend on the facts.

Virginia, like just about everywhere, allows the use of reasonable force to protect property.

You can be "asked" to return to the store and, if you decline and keep walking, they can just grab you and hold you for the police.
