My Ex Owes Me for Paying Bills That He Was Ordered to Pay
My question involves a divorce in the state of: Texas
Can I sue my ex for the money I have paid and that are due on the following things?
The Following was Court Ordered and signed by a judge:
The vehicle I was driving was awarded to him along with responsibility of payment (vehicle in MY name with him as secondary signer); I surrendered vehicle to him on time; he has NEVER made a payment since surrendering; I had to work with the vehicle company to get the vehicle repossessed; there is now a repossession and $4,000+ hit on my credit.
He was awarded the living room furniture and financial responsibility of said furnishings; furniture was financed through a credit company in MY NAME. He never paid any money on it; I have since paid it off completely.
He was deemed responsible for an amount to be paid on a credit card that was in MY name; he never paid it; I have since paid the card off completely.
Re: My Ex Owes Me for Paying Bills That He Was Ordered to Pay
If you pay money that your ex- was obligated to pay under the judgment, you can seek reimbursement through the divorce court.
If you have not paid the money, but your ex- has not paid the money he has been ordered to pay under the judgment, you can initiate a show cause (contempt) proceeding asking that he show cause why he has not complied with the order or be sanctioned or held in contempt for his non-compliance.
It sounds like you need to do both -- and you can generally combine the two issues into a single motion; but I suggest getting some help from a lawyer.
