How to Give Proper Notice to Individual Who You Want to Stop Trespassing
My question involves criminal law for the state of: COLORADO
I would like to insure that an ex-tenant can not come and harass my family at our residential home.
I've read that you can give a no trespassing notice to someone directly/certified mail to prevent them from trespassing for 1-2 years. Where can I find this?
Furthermore, what degree of trespassing is it if:
You have a very visible NO TRESPASSING SIGN on your property, and:
1. they refuse to leave your lawn after being told to leave explicitly.
2. they refuse to leave, and go into your garage
3. they refuse to leave, and go through your gated backyard, and knock on your backyard door
I have seen that for PRIVATE properties in Colorado, you have to sign a form with your local police department allowing them permission. This is just a regular house in a residential community, what are my options for preventing this trespasser/stalker/harasser?
Thanks!

Ever consider calling the police while they are trespassing on your property?

Is this former tenant somebody who rented part of your house and thinks he still has a right to access the property even though you terminated his tenancy a while ago?
Or did he rent a property from you elsewhere?
Either way:
1 - Lock your garage.
2 - Lock your gate.
3 - Walk into your front yard casually holding a shotgun the next time he shows up.
If you don't like number 3, take out a restraining order against him and then you can have him arrested if he shows up after that.

I don't like number three because if he does this while the tenant is still in a public area, it's a felony in Colorado. Of course, he could wait until the trespass actually occurs before he threatens the trespasser.
