Is There a Statute of Limitations on Sex Offender Registration
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oregon. When i was 13 i was charged with a sexoffence of which i must register. I am an adult now.

I went to another state without permission and therefore am now being charged with failure to register in Oregon. Is their a statute of limitations on this? Is their anyway for me to avoid this permanently by moving to the east coast or something?

Re: A Warrant in One State. and the Statute of Limitations
Is the original state of the conviction Oregon or did you move to Oregon and fail to register as their law requires? What state has issued a warrant?

regardlesd, once a warrant has been issued the statute of limitations doesn't apply.

No you cant move to the east coast to avoid anything. The warrant will remain until served or rescinded. Each state has their own laws of actions you must take when moving to their state. What is required depends on the entire set of facts but typically if you are required to register by the original state, you are going to be required to register in the state you move to. You are also often obligated to continue providing information of your location to the original state.

Specifically, statute of limitations applies only for the time between you committing the crime and the state commencing prosecution (filing charges). You don't get any breaks for being a fugitive.

Am I guessing that you were convicted somewhere other than Oregon? You'll need an attorney to deal with the warrant. Oregon casts a pretty large net on registration requirements (you had ten days). Even crimes committed as a juvenile are often caught in that. You'll need a lawyer to look at the specifics.
