What Are the Consequences of a Juvenile Charged with Criminal Trespass in Kansas
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Kansas
A 17 year old was walking the halls of a closed down elementary school. He caused NO damage and he didn't steal anything. He only had his phone on him, he was not posing a threat. The doors to the school were unlocked, a guard found him and cuffed him as they waited for an officer to get to the school. He was very respectful to each officer. They charged him with Juvenile Criminal Trespass. Does he get a fine? If so what is the possible cost? Or does he get a different action taken?

What makes you think he was required to be a threat to be guilty of trespassing. If the school building was locked or otherwise posted closed, he's guilty.
He needs a lawyer. Kansas is one of the states where he's likely tried as an adult. This is a misdemeanor with a minimum two days in jail prior to other sanctions (probation most likely). It's going to cost a few thousand by the time he's done. He's well advised to have an attorney. That will cost a few thousand as well. Of course, if he's indigent, a public dender might be available.
To answer the other questions:
As I told you above if he's tried as an adult, he's likely to spend 48 hours in jail (minimum). Maximum jail time is six months (unlikely). A fine of up to $1000 may also be assessed and court costs and fees can extend this into multiple thousands. He may get probation which he will also pay for.
As for his record, when he turns 23, his juvenile record can possibly be expunged provided he doesn't get any more items on his record. It's not automatic or by right. It's at the discretion of the court.
