Can You Legally Purchase a Firearm After Reducing a Felony Conviction to Misdemeanor
My question involves criminal records for the state of: California

Am I able to buy a gun after having 17b/1203.4? I have just recently had this granted but do not want to buy a fire arm until I am sure of it. Also, If my rights to legally buy a fire arm are restored, How long would I have to wait until I am cleared through DOJ? I know they need to update their systems but how long will this take?

It was a non violent crime and I am not an addict and I am over 18 years of age. It was for stealing PC459-F. It has been over 10 years since the offence and I have completed all of my probation along with paying off all the fines associated with the crime.

If I am able to purchase a fire arm will I need to admit to this on the application?

    Thanks,

If you successfully reduce a felony conviction to a misdemeanor, and the only basis for your inability to purchase or possess firearms was that felony conviction, then (except for domestic violence cases) the reduction of the conviction to a misdemeanor would remove the legal bar.

You have to tell the truth on applications to purchase firearms.
