Sold roommate's stuff for rent money
I had a roommate that wasn't on the lease, but there was a verbal agreement that he would pay half the rent. He came home from work one day with two of his friends, and without a word, packed up most of his belongings and left, leaving me with 6 more months rent. The roommate left his things here for almost 2 weeks without so much as a phone call to follow up on when he was going to remove them. With rent due, and not having enough money to pay for the apartment by myself, I had to take drastic measures and decided to sell two guitars he had left at a local resale shop. He now wants almost 4 times more than I got for the guitars, and has threatened to file a theft report with the police. If this went to court, is this a case I could win? I can not afford to pay him back for the guitars (considering I'm paying all the rent myself) PLEASE GIVE ADVISE!

Buy the guitars back from the secondhand store, return them to your roommate, then sue your roommate for the rent he owes in small claims court.
