My Boyfriend Moved Out and Agreed to Still Pay Rent, but Won't Pay
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: NC

My boyfriend and I rented a studio together in august. The landlord only needed one name on the lease as it was just a studio. I used my name but she knew he was living there. He recently moved out with no notice, and he wrote a hand written note and signed it saying he would pay the final 3 months rent until the lease is up. I also have proof of him living there since move in as the cable/internet has been in his name since august. if I take him to court can I force him to pay? It's a studio so renting out isn't possible and that is why he agreed to pay the leftover months. He paid part of June, none for July and is refusing to pay august as well.
    Thanks in advance

If you take him to court you might win a judgment but you can't "force" him to pay. And the court won't help you collect.

Is he employed? Have a bank account where you are aware of not only the bank but his account number? If so you need to research whether wage or bank garnishment would be an option for you.

He has a job and makes good money, enough to help with both rents. He has an account with PNC, don't have the banking information.

The problem is if you take him to court and win a judgment it will still be up to you to get these funds.
