Is a Cosigner Responsibility for a Loan After the Borrower Dies
My question involves collectors on behalf of Harley Davidson.

Person PC is retired veteran who overdosed and is no longer with us, his family lives in FL, where PC rests in peace, left little or nothing to his family, as far as I know. No estate or will, tho military his sponsor his funeral.

Person AW (my family member living in CA) was his cosigner, and the purchase was made on OK, some years back.
Harley Davidson is claiming there is there is $679 ~ debt that person AW responsible for paying off even tho that Harley Davidson item was previously totaled.

Can someone shed some light on this matter? Can Harley Davidson go after AW, as consignee even tho the borrower himself is deceased?

    Many thanks for responses!

The lender can seek payment from the estate, if one is opened, seek payment from the cosigner, or both. If the estate has no money, the cosigner remains on the hook for the money owed.
