If you are charged with this, you need a lawyer big time.

I would recommend not sharing anything regarding the case if that charge has been leveled against you or anyone you know.

The punishment for attempted first-degree murder in FL is life in prison without the possibility of parole. Whomever is charged with this needs to stop talking to anybody other than their attorney and if they don't have an attorney, they need one yesterday.

On the contrary, I believe confession is good for the soul of the guilty.

On the contrary, I believe confession is good for the soul of the guilty.

If the accused wishes to confess to unburden his soul then he ought to confess to his priest/pastor/rabbi/mullah or whatever spiritual leader his religion has. Under Florida law, that confession would be privileged and not admissible against him in court. F.S. § 90.505. He may (and should) divulge the facts to his lawyer. That communication is protected by the attorney-client privilege. But confessions to others risks that confession being used against him in court, and no lawyer would advise a defendant to do that.
