What is the Advantage of Applying for Citizenship
A friend is debating if he should apply citizenship. He is a greencard holder. He is unsure if he wants to stay in this country. What is the advantage of being a citizen. What are the difference between greencard holder and citizens? His home country would not allow dual citizenship and if he give it up and he may need a visa to go visit his hometown. Any advice ?

If you become a citizen, you gain the full rights of of being a citizen. In addition, extended overseas travel won't affect your status.

Given that his nation of origin does not permit dual citizenship, he would have to decide for himself if he prefers to be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of his nation of origin.

I'm a legal permanent resident of the US, and I have kept my original citizenship. At this point in time I'm going to keep things just as they are.

    Just in case.
