What is the Penalty for Indecent Exposure
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio.
Is indecent exposure considered a minor misdemeanor? Should you plead No Contest? Incident was where someone got caught relieving himself in what he thought was a hidden area of a park while hiking.

Someone should consult an attorney if someone is charged with a criminal act. Someone should not plead anything prior to doing so so that someone may understand the full impact of any plea on their future.

Public Indecency (which is the charge that includes indecent exposure) is NOT a minor misdemeanor. Simple display of the private parts without a "sexual" act is a fourth degree misdemeanor unless there are priors.

Never plead guilty or no contest without explicit counsel as to the implications of doing so.

Note that simple public urination, even if it exposed the private parts does NOT fit the definition of public indecency.

Here is how the statute reads:

"No person shall recklessly do any of the following, under circumstances in which the person's conduct is likely to be viewed by and affront others who are in the person's physical proximity and who are not members of the person's household:

    (1) Expose the person's private parts;"

He definitely should talk to an attorney.
