Can a Parent Legally Open a Teenager's Mail
My question involves personal property located in the State of: South Carolina
Hi, so I donated blood not too long ago and the red cross sent me a letter with Confidential stamped at the bottom. My mother opened my mail and confronted me about false positive test results. I just need to know if she has the right to open mail addressed to me, especially considering CONFIDENTIAL was written on it. She claimed "God told her to do it" but do I have the right of privacy when it comes to that?

Things will change when you are 18 years of age. But right now, your mother can do what she wishes. She is privy to anything you receive in the mail. It doesn't matter if God told her to do it or not.

What's done is done. If you want to avoid such issues n the future, get a P.O. box, and use that for all your personal mail. Legal or not,mom will do as she wishes, if she thinks God told her to do it.
