How to Get a Child Home if You Don't Have a Valid Driver's License
My question involves criminal law for the state of:Tx. What to do when law enforcement won't assist me with my minor child due to warrants for traffic tickets. My 16 yr old daughter was convinced by family members that she is old enough to make her own decisions and has been residing with them. Due to my warrants in that area for failure to report an address change, I have been unable to get her home, this has been going on since October. They have been recieving welfare benefits for her since april of last yr, while she was living with me. I am the court ordered custodial parent, yet they were able to have me removed as primary contact at her high school. Shes failing most classes and has so many absences Im afraid I'll recieve yet another warrant for my arrest. Recently filed taxes and my mother claimed her so my return was denied. My mother has been convicted of tax fraud before. My sister along with several other family members bashed me on social media, 12 pages of insults they refer to as facts, they also request that people confront me for them, whats worse is they tagged my daughter (then 15) so she could read all the horrible things they posted. Destroyed my business my reputation, my relationship with my daughter. Im outnumbered and exhausted but can't stop fighting for my daughter, am i out of options?

You have a warrant out for your arrest for not reporting an address change on your driver's license?

The cops are refusing to return your daughter to you because they're more concerned about you not reporting your address change than your daughter's court-ordered place to live?

Your family members somehow managed to apply for, and receive, welfare benefits for a child that didn't live with them, in fact was court-ordered to live somewhere else?

You haven't done anything about this because you're afraid of being arrested for the address-change violation, yet you're somehow "exhausted" from all the "fighting" you have to do?

Your mother being convicted of tax fraud has what to do with this?

So the police have told you they won't help you because you have warrants or you haven't asked for their help because you have warrants? It sounds like the easiest solution is to clear the warrants.

Why have you not simply gone and brought your daughter back home, kicking and screaming if needs be?

Why have you not set the school straight on who should be contacted about your daughter?

    Re: Help
I'm more interested in why OP hasn't reported her family to the welfare people...

You should report this, it's a potential crime of harassment or even stalking if its gone on for awhile.

According to OP, it happened a year ago. And no, it's not stalking or harassment. OP has far bigger problems than her family dissing her on social media a year ago.

In some states it is. I know because I've been charged for doing the same. I was actually charged with stalking for using the victms name in my personal post.

Go take care of your warrant.

Report your family for welfare fraud.

Go get your daughter and if they try to stop you, call the cops.

Report your mom to the IRS because she filed a false claim as your daughter is not her dependent based on what you said.

Stop letting your family run over you.

    The vidtim's name?

There must be way more to your story as there is nothing illegal in any state or
federal law against using a person's name on some social media site.

What did your post state? I highly doubt you got a stalking charge by merely mentioning someone's name in a post online. If that's the case we all would be charged with stalking every time we tag someone in a post.
